Our International Women’s Day Luncheon was a lovely success! We heard from the thoughtful and knowledgeable Dr. Ingrid Mattson in discussion with Imam Shpendim Nadzaku. We celebrated countless women in the community, including our incredible outgoing Executive Director, Dr. Hind Jarrah. Guests purchased roses for the special women in their lives. Ever wondered what we mean when we say we provide “culturally-sensitive and trauma-informed” care? We are beyond excited to announce the publishing of a new report, “From the Roots of Trauma to the Flowering of Trauma-Informed Care,” in collaboration with the Asian Pacific Institute on Gender-Based Violence, under the leadership of Dr. Dheeshana S. Jayasundara. This report defines trauma and trauma-informed practices, what it means to be culturally-sensitive, and why we at TMWF have found these practices
