Job Title: Immigration Law Intern
Status: Non-paid
Reports to: Immigration Attorney

Position Summary
The candidate will be exposed to a variety of law areas, with a primary focus on immigration law.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct Legal research
- Prepare USCIS packages for active cases
- Prepare correspondence
- Modify documents
- Attend legal consultation and case briefing
- Administrative duties include but not limited to answering phone, contact USCIS and clients
Qualification
- Law student 21 and 31
- Must have good research, writing and interpersonal skills
- Interest and coursework in immigration law preferred
- Bilingual is a plus
- Be able to work 20-30 hours/week

Are you passionate about advocating for families and gaining hands-on experience in family law? Texas Muslim Women's Foundation (TMWF) is seeking a dedicated Legal Aid Intern to support our mission of empowering individuals and families through compassionate legal assistance, advocacy, and education.

What You’ll Do:
· Assist in family law cases, including divorce, custody, child support, protective orders, and other related matters under attorney supervision.
· Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and help prepare cases for court.
· Complete client intake paperwork and conduct initial client interviews.
· Draft and review legal documents, including petitions, motions, affidavits, and orders.
· Prepare case summaries, exhibit lists, and supporting documentation.
· Maintain client case files, update case status spreadsheets, and monitor deadlines.
· Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court coordinators, and other professionals via phone and email.
· Support attorneys during hearings, mediations, and trials.
· Attend community outreach and legal education events as needed.
· Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all casework.
· Close client files and ensure proper documentation and case management recordkeeping.
