PLANO, TEXAS, April 24, 2014—Texas Muslim Women’s Foundation will present a multicultural musical performance and children’s poetry contest to celebrate mothers at its annual Mother’s Day Luncheon on Thursday, May 8. The luncheon, to be held 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Dallas Palms event center in Carrollton, benefits the nonprofit organization which empowers, promotes and supports North Texas women and their families.

This is the third annual Mother’s Day luncheon for Texas Muslim Women’s Foundation, which provides a broad array of social services to people of all faiths, youth leadership development, education and interfaith outreach. Through these services, the organization acts as an ambassador from the peaceful Muslim community to reach out to and strengthen the diverse North Texas region. Among its signature projects is the Peaceful Oasis shelter, the first and only domestic violence shelter in North Texas to address the specific needs of Muslim women and their children.

“In the Islamic faith, mothers are revered for their role in the foundation of life. We are delighted to celebrate mothers from all faiths at our annual Mother’s Day Luncheon,” said Hind Jarrah, executive director of the Texas Muslim Women’s Foundation. “Our celebration, the “Rhythm of Life,” focuses on the arts, a universal language that bridges cultural gaps and unites us in the human experience as we show our appreciation to mothers.”

The luncheon will showcase the artistic talents of the Muslim community, providing an enriching cultural experience for guests. Texas Muslim Women’s Foundation is committed to reaching out within and beyond the Muslim community, supporting programs like the Islamic Art Revival Series that encourage interfaith dialogue, providing education on the Islamic faith and creating awareness of common issues like family violence and disabilities.
